Two persons, including a woman, died in separate road mishaps in the rural belt here on Saturday. The deceased were identified Satwinder Kaur (37) of Chhidan village and Kashmir Singh (60) of Pandori Mehma village.

Satwinder Kaur, along with her husband and son Husandeep Singh, was travelling on a scooter when a jeep coming from “wrong” side hit them near Khurmania village. They sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to a hospital where doctors declared Satwinder dead. The injured are under treatment.

Acting on the statement of Manjit Singh of Chhidan village, an eyewitness and relative of the victim, The police have registered a case under Sections 304-A, 279, 337, 338 and 427 of the IPC against the unknown jeep driver who fled.

In another incident, Kashmir Singh of Pandori Mehma village lost his life when a speedy scooter hit his cycle near Delhi Public School on the GT road. Raj Singh, son of the victim, stated to the police that they had come to Manawala hospital for taking medicine. They were returning home when the incident took place. The unidentified accused fled the scene.

The police have registered a case under Sections 304-A, 279, 337, 338 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code.
