Two killed in road mishaps

AMRITSAR: Two persons died in separate road mishaps in the rural belt here on Saturday.

Two persons died in separate road mishaps in the rural belt here on Saturday. Among the deceased is a 20-year-old youth who was going to appear for a test for recruitment to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He has been identified as Yaadwinder Singh, a resident of Banwalipur Kaler, Tarn Taran.

Rashpal Singh, his paternal uncle, stated to the police that he, along with Yaadwinder and his mother, were coming to Amritsar on separate bikes on Thursday. He said that when they reached near Rampura village turn on GT Road, a car hit Yaadwinder’s bike from the rear side. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital. During treatment, he died late on Saturday evening.

The Chatiwind police have registered a case under Section 304-A and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against the car driver, identified as Sukhdev Singh of Jagsherpur village, Tarn Taran.

The accused is yet to be arrested.

Similarly, Kartar Singh (55) lost his life when a car hit his scooter on Friday evening. He along with his friend Pardeep Dhawan of Alka Vihar located on Majitha road was returning to Amritsar when the accused car driver hit his scooter near Pandori Waraich village. The unknown driver of the car fled away leaving the car behind. The Kamboh police have registered a case against the unidentified car driver under Sections 304-A, 279 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code. The victim’s family has urged police officials concerned to arrest the accused in order to bring him to justice.
