Union Minister of State and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu strongly condemned the vandalism at the BJP district office in Tarn Taran by around 25 assailants yesterday, alleging that the Punjab Government has completely failed to maintain law and order in the state. The Minister visited the site today to inspect the damage.

Bittu said that the courage of the “goons” had been emboldened under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. He described the attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party office in broad daylight not merely as an assault on a political party but as a direct attack on democracy itself.

He added that the main target of the attackers was district president Harjit Singh Sandhu and other BJP leaders, but fortunately they had left the office only minutes earlier, otherwise there could have been a major loss of life.

Criticising the Punjab Government, Bittu alleged that it was pursuing politics of intimidation and suppression of political opponents. He warned that those attempting to intimidate BJP workers should understand that every worker would always stand firm for the unity of the country and democracy.

He also praised the bravery shown by Harjit Singh Sandhu, district president of the BJP, for standing up against the attackers, noting that he continues to serve the people day and night under difficult conditions in this rural area.
