Amritsar, August 11

After returning from Pakistan via Attari Wagah Joint Check Post, SAD (Delhi) president Paramjit Singh Sarna said that he had pleaded with the Pakistan government to grant visa on arrival to the Sikh sangat from across the world to celebrate the forthcoming 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

Accompanied by his brother Harvinder Singh Sarna, he said they had held elaborate discussions with the officials of the AUQAF board and the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee over the manner to celebrate the occasion. They informed that the Pakistan government would release a postal stamp and a coin to commemorate the occasion.

He suggested that an international committee should be formed to organise gurmat programmes throughout the year. Sikh intellectuals must be invited to these programmes. A tent city should be in Nankana Sahib keeping in view arrival of a large number of devotees, he said.

Sarna brothers announced that a nagar kirtan from Delhi to Nankana Sahib would also be taken out to commemorate the historic Gurpurab and the Pakistan government’s response was affirmative for this demand.

They informed that the construction of historic Gurdwara Dehra Sahib was in full swing and it will be completed by November.
