AMRITSAR: The Jandiala police have nabbed a youth for allegedly thrashing and molesting a widow in Thathia village.

The Jandiala police have nabbed a youth for allegedly thrashing and molesting a widow in Thathia village. He has been identified as Manjit Singh. The police have also booked his father Amrik Singh and brother Nirmal Singh on the complaint of the victim. The complainant stated that she was at her house when the accused turned up and thrashed her on Monday. They allegedly tore her clothes besides assaulting her. When she raised the alarm, the accused fled the scene. People got her admitted to the Manawala Civil Hospital. She alleged that Amrik Singh used to stalk her and she used to oppose his activities.

Darshan Singh, investigating officer, said the victim’s husband died around 15 years ago. Amrik Singh’s wife has also died. He resides with his two sons. They are daily wagers. According to Darshan Singh, the preliminary probe confirmed the incident and villagers too pointed the finger at the character of the accused.

The police have arrested Manjit Singh while raids are being conducted to nab the remaining accused.
