The rural police booked a youth for allegedly raping a woman here on Friday. He has been identified as Jaspal Singh of Wadala Kalan village, falling under the Khilchian police station. The victim also belongs to the same village.

Though the incident occurred on June 9, the complaint was lodged with the police on Friday. The victim alleged that the accused made physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage.

The victim alleged that the accused had been working at a motorcycle agency of his uncle. Due to this, he often visited her house. He said the accused, while promising her of marriage, raped her a number of times. When he did not marry her, she was married to another person in February this month. She alleged that her husband got a wind of their relationship and therefore he divorced her.

According to her, on June 9, she was alone at home when Jaspal turned up at her house and forcibly made physical relations with her. She alleged that she refused to marry her. “Initially, I did not tell anyone about this, but perturbed over the repeated sexual assault, I approached the police,” she added.

A case under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC has been registered against Jaspal while no arrest has been made till now.
