Woman arrested for ‘opening fire’ at stepson

AMRITSAR: An ASI has accused his wife of opening fire at his son with his licensed weapon.

An ASI has accused his wife of opening fire at his son with his licensed weapon. Though he escaped unhurt, the police have arrested the suspect, identified as Harjinder Kaurm, a resident of Bhoujian village in Tarn Taran.

ASI Resham Singh, who along with his wife and son, was living at a rented accommodation on the Sultanwind road, stated to Division B police that Harjinder was his third wife. Though he remarried her for his son Jasraj Singh, but according to him, she could not take care of him. He said at around 5pm when he returned home after his duty, his son told him that Harjinder Kaur opened fire at him with an intention to kill him.

Davinder Singh, in-charge Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, police chowki said a case has been registered under Section 307 of the IPC and Sections 25, 27, 54, 59 of the Arms Act. She has been taken into custody.

The accused on the other hand told the police that she was perturbed over the estranged relation with Jasraj.

They often had quarrels in the house. She told the police that she wanted to commit suicide, but Jasraj pulled her arm and tried to snatch the pistol, which led to the firing in air. Davinder Singh said further investigations were underway.
