Woman duped by phishing racket



Amritsar, March 6

Another local resident fell victim to the phishing racket. Shaifali Arora, the victim, stated to police that she got a call on her mobile and the woman on the other side introduced herself as an employee of the SBI bank.

The accused told that her credit card request was approved and to complete the process, she sought her full details. She said as she gave full information, later Rs 2.27 lakh were debited from her credit card. The police have registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC and Section 66-C and 66-D of IT Act against unknown persons in this connection. Further investigations were underway. — TNS
