Workshop held at SGRD institute to update medical interns in lifestyle medicine

To equip medical interns with crucial skills in health communication and lifestyle medicine, a comprehensive two-day workshop was organised at Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research. The initiative was part of the International Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) Institute Project.
Dr AP Singh, Dean at Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, expressed his appreciation for Dr Richa Ghay Thaman’s efforts in designing this transformative course, emphasising on the urgent need to incorporate lifestyle medicine into both undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, especially in the light of prevalence of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity and cardiovascular ailments.
The event was inaugurated by a distinguished panel that included luminaries like Dr Baljeet Singh Khurana, Registrar,
Dr Anupama Mahajan, Director Principal, Dr Sahiba Kukreja and Dr Gurinder Mohan, all of whom lent their unwavering support and expertise to this groundbreaking initiative.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Manjit Singh Uppal and Dr Pankaj Gupta, Controller of Examinations, took the opportunity to release two important books — one on nutrition by Dr Cheenam Bhatia and another on physiotherapy by Dr Mandeep Kang.
Faculty members Dr Kawalinder Girgla, Dr Navpreet Kaur, Dr Harjot Singh and Dr Anupama Gupta were also among the main speakers who shared their views during this interactive event.
