The department of clinical nutrition and dietetics at Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences recently organised an academic workshop on “Nutritional management for gastrointestinal disorders”, with the objective of enhancing knowledge and professional skills in the field of clinical nutrition.
The workshop was conducted under the leadership of Dean Dr AP Singh, and Vice-Chancellor Dr MS Uppal.
Director Principal Dr Anupama Mahajan emphasised the need for continued education and skill development in healthcare disciplines to ensure better patient care and treatment outcomes.
The event featured expert sessions by Ritu Sudhakar, Chief Dietitian at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital; and Sonia Gandhi, chief dietitian at Fortis Multi-Speciality Hospital. The speakers shared insights into the latest research, dietary interventions, and practical approaches to managing gastrointestinal disorders.
Their presentations provided participants with updated knowledge and real-world strategies applicable in clinical practice. Delegates and students from institutions across Punjab — including Lovely Professional University, RR Bawa DAV College for Girls, Khalsa College, GNA University, CT University, Amritsar Group of Colleges and Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions — participated in the interactive sessions and discussions.
Organising secretary Dr Cheenam Bhatia said the workshop reflected the department’s commitment to strengthening professional competencies in clinical nutrition.
