World Food Day celebrated

AMRITSAR: The Guru Nanak Dev University’s department of food science and technology, in collaboration with AFST(I), Mysuru, celebrated the World Food Day here on Wednesday.

The Guru Nanak Dev University’s department of food science and technology, in collaboration with AFST(I), Mysuru, celebrated the World Food Day here on Wednesday.

GNDU’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu, in his address, emphasised the importance of human wellness and good nutrition in the development of overall personality of the students.

He also highlighted the initiatives being undertaken by the university in achieving these objectives under his guidance and was greeted with a great applause. He said the students should come up with such initiatives in the near future.

Dr Narpinder Singh apprised the students of various issues related to food hunger and how to tackle these problems. The event was marked by various activities by the students on the theme of food day, such as quiz, poster-making competitions and PowerPoint presentations in which the students displayed their ideas and wit through these presentations. — TNS
