10-yr-old girl dies as roof gives way

A 10-year-old girl died after the roof of her house in Krishna Nagar caved in while she was sleeping during the wee hours today.

The deceased, Sushma, and her father Radhey Sham were asleep when the roof collapsed. Other family members who were sleeping in the open and neighbours rushed for their help. While Radhey Sham was rescued easily as he suffered minor injuries, Sushma got badly hurt. She was rushed to a local hospital where she breathed her last. The family has complained that the owner of a shop in the vicinity, who was getting some construction work done, had kept the concrete on top of his kutcha roof. The roof could not bear the weight and crumbled down. Sushma was the third child of Radhey Sham, who has a daughter and a son.
