A 38-year-old married woman and her 19-year-old nephew, who had fallen in love, entered into a suicide pact after they could no longer live together. They ended their lives after consuming celphos tablets today.

Darshan Singh (19) and her maternal aunt Inderjit Kaur were living together for the past three months at a village located near her in-laws’ residence.

She had been married for the past 18 years and had three children. Her husband was working in Dubai.

SSP Daljinder Singh Dhillon said a case had been registered. He added that both woman and the boy had eloped three months ago and were living in Manoharpur village.

The village is near Aliwal village where the woman used to live with her husband before he went abroad.

Today morning, some villagers saw two bodies lying near a tubewell in Manoharpur. One of the residents informed the police, who shifted the bodies to the Batala Civil Hospital.

The police said neither the relatives of the woman nor the boy came to take possession of the bodies. The bodies have now been shifted to the hospital mortuary.
