Amritsar, June 8

MC employees on Friday seized a few rolls of fibre cable being installed by Reliance Jio despite civic body warning. Earlier, the company had installed poles illegally, which too have been seized by the estate office.

Estate officials said that instead of adopting the legal channel, the company had been trying to install the fiber illegally.

MC Estate Officer Sushant Bhatia said, “MC Commissioner Harbit Singh has taken a strict note of the companies’ misconduct. The firm claimed that they are using the poles of the PSPCL. However, they can’t use the poles of PSPCL without MC’s permission. The company should deposit the requisite fee for use of land and occupational charges and install the poles and wire. Without paying fee, we will not allow them to install cables.”

Earlier, there were a few private telecom companies of influential politicians installing fiber cables without paying even a single penny to the corporation.

Estate officials claimed that no one would be allowed to dig footpath, install the pole or hang the wire on electric poles without permission.
