Amritsar, April 13
Wanted in several cases of robbery and a murder, gangster Bhupinder Singh, alias Bhinda Don, of Panori Waraich village was finally arrested on Friday. A .32 bore and 4 live rounds have been seized.
He is said to be an accomplice of another A-grade gangster, Dilpreet Baba.
Amritsar (Rural) SSP Parampal Singh, at a press conference, said he was involved in many robberies. He was also a part of the group that shot dead a driver of Baba Budha Bus Service, Gurjinder Singh of Heir village, in July 2017. It was a case of road rage as the accused got angry when the bus driver failed to give them passage on the Fatehgarh Churian road. Gurjinder was taking the bus towards Fatehgarh Churian after taking passengers from the interstate bus stand when the youths, travelling in an SUV, honked repeatedly seeking a passage. Due to a heavy traffic rush and the single-lane road, the driver was finding it difficult to give them a side.
The accused got infuriated, overtook the bus and stopped their SUV in the middle of the road. As the bus stopped, they pulled Gurjinder out of the bus and thrashed him before shooting him. They later fled while firing in the air. The bus passengers did not dare to stop the armed youths.
The SSP said that his accomplice, Sikander, was recently arrested by the city police. He was wanted for drug peddling and robberies. “We will try to get information regarding the whereabouts of Dilpreet Baba,” the SSP added.
