A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked on Tuesday between the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) and Ranjit Vilas, a leading name in ITC Welcome Heritage brand in Tourism and Hospitality, to create a strong connection between the university and Hotel Industry.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Vice Chancellor Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu, MD Vikram Singh Makhni, Registrar Prof Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Prof Kamaljit Singh, Dean Academic Affairs and other senior officials.
Dr Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, coordinator, university industry linkage programme, said both parties agreed to develop a progressive collaboration in a resource and knowledge sharing environment in the field of tourism and hospitality. Beside this, parties agreed to develop academic programmes and share expertise in training, internships for students in various fields of hospitality like reception desk, housekeeping and restaurant departments, arrange guest lecturers for renowned officials from ITC hotels and other activities through joint organisation of events.
Makhni said his group will provide stipends for interns and also provides scholarships to under privileged students. Prof Sandhu said, “The university has been working for past many years in providing quality education to the society and reiterated the commitment of becoming centre of excellence in this field.”
