Bathinda, June 12
Deputy Commissioner B Srinivasan on Wednesday said a special campaign would be run to make the district totally drug free. He stated this while chairing a meeting under the drug abuse prevention officer (DAPO) programme of the state government.
Addressing a meeting, the DC said the committees constituted at the sub-divisional level would carry out different activities on a daily basis to spread awareness against drug abuse under the drive. He said the NGOs, religious organisations and village panchayats would also be involved in the campaign.
He said all efforts should be made to reach out to the maximum people on the occasion of the International Anti-drug Day on June 26. He said sarpanches and panches, who have been made DAPOs, would be trained as master trainers, adding that the SDMs concerned would also issue the identity cards to them.
He said special efforts would be made to include youngsters, who have shunned drugs, into the Punjab Skill Development programme. He directed the officials to submit the report of the meetings held between the month of January and May.
