Haridwar, December 8

Contrary to her bold roles, outfit, appearance and affair buzz with Indian Test cricketer Virat Kohli, famed model-turned Hindi film actress Anushka Sharma is quite inclined towards spirituality, religion and moral values.

As Anushka’s mother Ashima Sharma is a Garhwali, the actress has been coming to Uttarakhand since her childhood, but post her debut in films in 2007, the family prefers to keep her visit a secret.

Ansuhka Sharma, who has to her credit blockbusters like “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,” “Band Baja Baraat” and “Badmaash Company,” was on a two-day visit to the pilgrim city of Haridwar, where she stayed at Ambuvala-based Anant Dham Atmabodh Ashram.

Accompanied by four relatives and friends, Anushka Sharma performed religious rituals and rites with affection, offering water at Shivalingam of Lord Shiva at Shri Ananteshwar temple. Remaining on fast till the religious rites were performed, the ace actress showed her other side of spirituality.

Talking to TNS briefly while leaving Atmabodh Ashram,Anushka termed her two-day visit experience yesterday evening in Haridwar on the banks of holy Ganga as “awesome.”

Anushka was all praise for the ashram head Maharaj Anant Baba, who has been their family religious spiritual guru, saying that whenever she needs mental peace and wants answer to her inner thoughts, she tries to reach Maharaj Anant Baba.

“The ashram stay is one of the best moments for me. It rejuvenates me from deep inside. Spirituality is essential in one’s life. It makes us better from inside and outside both,” stated Anushka, who bagged the Best Supporting Actor Filmfare Award for “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” (2012).

On her getting a dream debut in Indian film industry with noted film maker-director Yash Chopra giving her break in “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,” Anushka paid tributes to the legendary director, saying he was a master of film making, with each and every scene he filmed being close to his heart.

Anushka refrained from divulging details of her upcoming flick with Aamir Khan directed by Raju Hirani, saying that film is going to release on December 19.

On beautiful natural locations in Uttarakhand, Anushka said that these have been shown in films like “Waqt,” “Kabhi Kabhi,” “Ram Teri Ganga Maili,” “Bunty Aur Bubly” but infrastructure like better road connectivity, air strips and one-window clearance for the film shooting need to be done to attract more filmmakers.
