RAJOURI: An Army porter was injured when the Pakistan army resorted to firing near the Line of Control in the Nowshera sector on Friday.

Rajouri, March 15

An Army porter was injured when the Pakistan army resorted to firing near the Line of Control in the Nowshera sector on Friday.

The porter, identified as Surjit Kumar, a resident of Deeing village in Nowshera tehsil, was admitted to Army Hospital here.

He carrying material for soldiers when Pakistani snipers targeted him near a forward location.

After being shot at by snipers, Surhit was immediately taken to nearby Army health centre and after initial treatment referred to Army Hospital in Rajouri.

The firing came after two days after the Pakistan army shelled the cross-LoC trade centre at Chakan da Bagh in Poonch district.

Meanwhile, an Army porter died when a snowslide hit him in the Uri sector in Baramulla district on Friday, officials said. They said Shakil Ahmad was critically wounded after he was hit by a snowslide in the Nawa area of Uri close to the the LoC. "He was taken to nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead," a police official said.
