Income Tax officials today raided three educational institutes located in the Ajit Road area of the city.

The raids are said to have been conducted following reports of alleged tax evasion.

The raids were conducted on the Arora Classes, Bansal Academy and Kapil Institute.

Income Tax officials refused to divulge any details about the raids.

Income Tax Joint Commissioner PK Sharma said they were checking the records of these centres.

They can’t reveal anything at present as investigation was in progress, he added.

Sources in the department said these raids were conducted to build pressure on the erring commercial establishments who had been evading tax.
