Bathinda, April 30
Two SAD leaders have been booked for beating up a person who questioned Harsimrat Kaur Badal during a public meeting at Khemuane village in the district on Sunday.
The police have registered a case against SAD circle president Amarjit Singh, a resident of Jandawala, and YAD leader Balkar Singh Brar, a resident of Goniana Kalan, along with 10-15 unidentified persons under Sections 341, 323, 440, 148 and 149 of the IPC at the Nehiawala police station.
The case was registered on the complaint of the victim, Harjeet Singh, a resident of Khemuana village.
However, no arrests have been made so far in this incident.
SAD candidate Harsimrat Kaur Badal had gone to attend a public meeting at Khemuana village in the district on Sunday. While she was addressing a gathering, Harjit Singh stood up and started questioning her.
He was stopped by a SAD worker, but he did not listen to him. Later he was beaten up SAD workers. The entire incident had been captured on mobile phones and a video of which went viral on social media.
SAD workers, led by these two accused, on Monday staged a protest against Sukhpal Singh Khaira at the Civil Hospital in Goniana when he came to meet and enquire about the condition of victim Harjeet Singh. As Khaira reached the hospital, he did not find the victim there. When he started returning, the SAD workers gathered outside the hospital and started raising slogans against Khaira and his Punjab Ekta Party.
SAD leaders alleged Harjit was an alcoholic person. In an inebriated condition, he was “sent” to the party programme to create a ruckus, they alleged.
