Bathinda: Two persons have been booked for duping a woman of Rs 61,000 in an ATM fraud at Talwandi Sabo. A resident of Talwandi Sabo had gone to an SBI ATM to withdraw money. She asked for help from two persons, who took advantage of it and changed her ATM card. Later they withdrew Rs 40,000 and transferred Rs 21,000 from her account. The Talwandi Sabo police have registered a case after 17 days of the incident and have started a probe. The police have also taken the CCTV camera footage of the ATM. In a complaint lodged with the police, Jasvir Kaur, working with the BSF and a resident of Jiwan Singh Wala village, has stated that on April 20, she had gone to withdraw money from the SBI ATM at Talwandi Sabo. She asked for help from two persons who were present there. The accused changed her ATM card and later withdrew the money. TNS
Anganwadi workers protest
Malout: Anganwadi workers on Tuesday lodged a protest at Malout against the state government, demanding full honorarium as promised to them. They said the protest would continue until their demand was met. Notably, some anganwadi workers had earlier lodged protested outside the residence of Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring. TNS
1 booked for stubble burning
Muktsar: The Lambi police on Monday booked a farmer of Hakuwala village for defying the ban orders issued by the District Magistrate by burning wheat residue in his fields, which further caused damage to an adjoining kinnow orchard. Hardeep Singh, also a farmer, lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Sukhpal Singh burnt wheat stubble in his fields, which caused damage to the kinnow orchard. A case under Sections 188 and 427 of the IPC has been registered in this regard. TNS
