Return unused PoS machines: Agri dept to 59 fertiliser dealers

The Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Yamunanagar, recently issued notice to 59 fertiliser dealers telling them to return Point of Sale (PoS) machines to the department.

National Fertilizers Limited had distributed 460 PoS machines to the retailers of the district free of cost last year to provide them the benefit of fertiliser subsidy under the direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme and for hassle-free availability of fertiliser to farmers.

But the PoS machines were lying unused with 59 dealers of the district as they had stopped doing fertiliser business due to personal reasons.

According to information, the Agriculture Department has warned the dealers that if they don’t deposit the PoS machines with the department, their dealership licence would be terminated.

“Such dealers were given one last opportunity to start the business or submit the PoS machines. Otherwise, strict action will be taken against them under the Fertiliser Control Order 1985,” said Dr Surender Yadav, Deputy Director of Agriculture Department, Yamunanagar.
