Kharar, September 16

Students of Ambika College of Nursing organised a play at the Kharar Civil Hospital. People visiting the hospital were made aware of symptoms of dengue.

SMO Dr Surinder Singh said, “Dengue is caused by Aedes aegypti mosquito. A case should be declared positive only if it has been confirmed by a state government lab.”

He said one should not believe in rumors and number of cases was less as compared to last year. He said the credit for this goes to intensive awareness campaign started by the Health Department and the non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Dr Singh said patients should consume plenty of fluids, avoid asprin tablet and take adequate rest. He said isolation wards have been prepared in government hospitals and daily monitoring of platelet count was mandatory in positive cases.

The SMO said we should take a pledge to drain out fresh water in homes and offices on a regular basis.
