The police have nominated a former DSP of Kharar, Raj Balwinder Singh Marar, and another person, Tarandeep Singh, in an FIR dated April 13, registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Information Technology Act, against unknown staffers of the office of the DSP.
The case was registered on a complaint of the Director, Bureau of Investigation, Punjab, for obtaining call detail records of a prominent person’s mobile number in connection with a case registered in 2014.
According to the FIR, the call details of a prominent person’s mobile number were obtained from the service provider by the office of the Mohali SSP on a request made by the office of the Kharar DSP in connection with an FIR of 2014 registered at the Kharar police station.
According to the FIR, the office of the Kharar DSP had been misused/abused to obtain the call records, which were not required.
