Harsh Vardhan releases book on patents, research publications

CHANDIGARH: Union Cabinet Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has released a book titled ‘Mapping of Patents and Research Publications of Higher Education Institutes and National Research Laboratories’, which is authored by Prof Rupinder Tewari and Mamta Bhardwaj, scientists at DST-Centre for Policy Research at Panjab University.

Union Cabinet Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has released a book titled ‘Mapping of Patents and Research Publications of Higher Education Institutes and National Research Laboratories’, which is authored by Prof Rupinder Tewari and Mamta Bhardwaj, scientists at DST-Centre for Policy Research at Panjab University.

The book was released at Delhi.

The highlight of the book is a study on the research and patent profiles of more than 900 institutes for seven-year period (2010-16). The study included all national research laboratories (553 in number) and 351 institutes of higher education based on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) criteria.

number 9 with 1,783 publications but no patent has been granted. In the engineering category, the PU is at number 33 with 647 publications, but no patent granted.

4. In pharma and drug category, NIPER Mohali is at number 45 with 195 publications, but 10 patents granted. The PU is at number 15 with 591 publications and two patents.
