Mohali, September 20
The Health Department today conducted raids at sweets shops and manufacturing units in Mohali, Zirakpur and Dera Bassi.
A total of 12 samples of “mithai” and milk were taken during the raids.
The officials said they took three samples, including two of MMP and of “burfi” from two sweet shops in Zirakpur. Three samples of milk were taken from a milk supply truck on the Banur-Zirakpur road and a total of eight samples, two each of cheese, “laddo”, cereal products and one each of “burfi” and “kalakand” were taken from five sweet shops and manufacturing units in Mohali, Zirakpur and Dera Bassi.
Rajbir Singh Kang, District Health Officer, said the sweet shops were inspected following instructions of Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh under the “Mission Tandrust Punjab”.
He said the Health Department was continuously raiding stores selling food products in the district.
The District Health Officer said they would continue such inspections in future as well and nobody would be allowed to play with the health of innocent consumers.
