LALRU:A woman was killed after she was allegedly hit by a car on the Ambala-Chandigarh stretch near Lalru here on Thursday.

A woman was killed after she was allegedly hit by a car on the Ambala-Chandigarh stretch near Lalru here on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Shakuntala Devi, a resident of Surat Manauli village near Lalru.

The police said the incident took place on Thursday when the victim was standing at the overbridge near Lalru. A car bearing Punjab registration number coming from the Chandigarh side reportedly hit the victim, following which she suffered injuries. She died on way to the hospital.

The police have registered a case against the car driver, identified as Tejvant Singh, a resident of Dera Bassi, under relevant sections of the IPC at the Lalru police station. — OC
