CHANDIGARH: Kiratjot Kaur clocked 33.63 seconds to win the 25m backstroke gold in the girls’ U-8 category on the concluding day of the Chandigarh Open Invitational Swimming Meet at the Sector 23 All-Weather Swimming Pool today.

Kiratjot Kaur clocked 33.63 seconds to win the 25m backstroke gold in the girls’ U-8 category on the concluding day of the Chandigarh Open Invitational Swimming Meet at the Sector 23 All-Weather Swimming Pool today. Pawani Bhatia finishing second by clocking 36.85s and Ryanpreet Kaur was third in 40.17s. In the boys’ event, Trinabh Sharma (26.05s) claimed the top podium position, followed by Gaivi Shira (30.31s) and Arnav Joura (30.62s).

Jujhar Singh Gill bagged the 50m backstroke gold in the boys’ U-10 category by clocking 39.16s. He was followed by Randeep Bhadu (42.95s) at second position and Aryan Sharma (43.15s) at third. Jasleen Kaur won the butterfly gold medal in the same age-group, taking gold with a time of 46.20s. Apurva Sharma (47.71s) and Khushi (48.52s) claimed second and third positions.

In the 50m backstroke category for U-12 boys, Akshat Antil (37.86s), Samardeep Singh (38.34s) and Angadjit Singh (39.03s) claimed the top three positions. Arshpreet Kaur (33.25s), Pratha Mehta (40.14s) and Aanya Sapra (45.26s) were the top three performers in the girls’ event.

Bhavnoor Kaur Vaid clocked 1 minute, 46.66 seconds to claim the gold in the 100m breaststroke event of the girls’ U-12 category. She was closely followed by Aditi Sharma (1:47.52) and Harshleen Kaur (1:55.68) at second and third positions. In the boys’ 50m event of the same age-group, Ramrinder Singh (1:25.82), Daksh (1:35.90) and Ravi Noor Singh (1:39.96) claimed the top three positions.

In the 50m freestyle final of the boys’ U-12 category, Akshat Antil (32.13s), Ravinoor (35.11s) and Aarav Sharma (35.70s) claimed the top three positions, while in the girls’ event Arshpreet Kaur (29.04s) claimed the gold medal, followed by Shubhnoor Kaur (35.07s) and Pratha (35.33s).

Vanisha Bashambu clocked 1:22.59 to claim the top podium position in the 100m breaststroke event of the girls’ U-14 category. Tista Tewani claimed the silver medal in 1:31.52, while Saanchi Bhargava clocked 1:33.88 to bag the bronze medal.

Jasnoor Kaur (28.02s) won the gold medal in the 50m freestyle event of the girls’ U-14 category. She was followed neck-and-neck by Varnika Bashambu (29.14s) and Oseen Mahajan (33.84s). In the 100m breaststroke event of the boys’ U-19 category, Harsimar Singh (1.11:87), Suryansh Sharma (1:14.57) and Karanveer Singh (1:15.43) won the top three positions. In the 100m breaststroke of the boys’ U-17 category, Dhruv Gupta (1:20.07), Rakshak Singh Thakur (1:21.93) and Vinay Rana (1:30.85) claimed the medals.

Chahat, Jayant bag two gold medals each

Jayant Punj and international swimmer Chahat Arora bagged two gold medals each on the concluding day of the championship. Punj claimed his first medal in the backstroke event of the boys’ U-14 category. He clocked 29.64s to claim the top spot. Kanwarjeet Singh Sandhu (34.84s) and Tarun Bhardwaj (36.06s) were the other two medal-winners. Punj (27.13s) claimed his second gold in the 50m freestyle event of the same age-group. Yatharth Rawat (28.56s) and Kanwarjeet (29.51s) claimed second and third positions.

Chahat, meanwhile, clocked 27.77s to win her first gold in the 50m freestyle event of the girls’ senior category. Sudrishti (34.62s) was second, followed by Nishtha (35.35s). In the 50m backstroke event, Chahat (32.43s), Sudrishti (41.63s) and Nishita (41.70s) claimed the top three positions.

Taranjit (25.93s) claimed the 50m freestyle gold in the boy’s U-17 category. Uday Sharma (26.03s) and Updesh Singh (26.17s) claimed second and third positions. Leeza Phogat (31.40s), Disha Thakur (35.56s) and Bhargvi (36.01s) were the medal-winners in the girls’ U-17 50m freestyle category. In the 50m backstroke for U-17 boys, Dhruv Attri (30.30s), Bhavya Singh Thakur (30.64s) and Aryan Saxena (30.68s) were the three medallists.
