Cleanliness still an issue

The Horticulture Department is carrying out pruning of trees in different locations of the city. This might be a good move to prevent overgrown branches from becoming obtacle for residents. We appreciate the vigilant department for this, but they have failed to clean up the mess. The branches are littered all over the place. Cleanliness should prevail in every sense. Kanwal Preet Singh

Ease transport woes of Mohali

Mohali district, also known as Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district or SAS Nagar, is one of the 22 districts of Punjab which was formed way back in 2006. Since then, the city has developed substantially. There has been a remarkable increase in the number of industries and educational institutions. Unfortunately, Mohali does not have its own bus service. Consequently, the residents are suffering tremendously as they have to make use of limited number of buses of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking or their own cars, auto-rickshaws and rickshaws. The Punjab Government should make efforts to start bus service in the city. The MC should preferably introduce mini-bus service covering all parts of the town, along with some peripheral areas. Apparently, there is no proposal with the Mohali Administration for checking congestion/pollution on the city roads. To tackle this gigantic problem, it is suggested that the administration should provide residents with reliable, affordable and frequent public transport. This will go a long way in tackling various problems which at present the city residents are facing. SK Khosla, Chandigarh
