Sources said the motorist, driving a white Maruti Alto bearing a Ludhiana number, stopped the car on the zebra crossing at the traffic light. Head constable Shashi Bhushan, who was on duty at the light point, asked the driver to show his driving licence. However, the driver started arguing.  As soon the traffic cop got down, the driver accelerated again and escaped from the spot.

The police were informed about the incident and the vehicle number was provided to them following which a case has been registered at the Sector 34 police station.
