Workshop to harness solar energy at PEC

Centre For Energy Studies, EED, Solar Energy Society of India, PEC, organised a student solar ambassador workshop to sensitise future generations about protecting environment, its importance. Participants were also given hands-on training to assemble a solar study lamp. The workshop was conducted at PEC in association with IIT-Bombay to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The workshop began with the Director’s speech at the Senate Hall wherein he underlined the importance of the need for shifting focus towards renewable sources of energy and sustainable energy sources.

The chief guest MP Singh delivered a presentation on harnessing solar energy in India and the role of PEDA played in this transformation. This was followed by Tarlochan Kaur, Chairperson, Center for Energy Studies giving a brief introduction about solar technologies and its need and impact on society viz-a-viz protecting, preserving and nurturing the environment for present and future. — TNS
