Chinese Ambassador Le Yucheng today supported trilateral trade ties between India, China and Pakistan for developing this region on strong economic footing.

Talking to select group members of the Confederation of International Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CICCI), Le Yucheng said the destiny had created these neigbours in Asian subcontinent and it was imperative to have common economic zone exclusively among these countries. He said traditional old trade routes could be revived to mutually benefit this region.

Agreeing to suggestion of some of the members, he said China-Pakistan trade route could be extended to India through Wagah border, giving direct access to India. This grouping would be helpful to build people-to-people contact and forge excellent economic ties, he added.

The CICCI also suggested developing common bond with the holy city of Amritsar with a similar city in China on Twin City Concept. Appreciating the idea, Le Yucheng said he would identify a similar city for cementing ties that would be good to both the cities. Earlier, more than 50 entrepreneurs from different cities of Punjab had interaction with their Chinese counterparts to work out joint-venture proposals in several fields, including solar and renewable energy, food and agro processing, light engineering, construction machinery, water treatment, IT and communication, agricultural implements etc.

He exuded confidence that their two-day visit to Amritsar would positively result in concrete business dialogue and next few months would see signing of number of MoUs between China and Punjabi businessmen. He said they should visit China and see the industrial development.
