Facing a great difficulty in the online submission of C-forms of foreign tourists for police record, the Kullu-Manali Tourism Development Mandal has sought exemption from it.
Mandal president Anup Thakur said the Tourism Department had made it compulsory for villagers to submit the C forms in case foreign tourists stay at their places, but a majority of far-flung areas in Kullu do not have the Internet facility.
“We urge the Chief Minister to ask the authorities to review their decision and allow the manual submission of the forms. This way, a house owner will be able to submit a photo copy of the form to the police,” he added.
Members of the mandal met former MP Pratibha Singh, wife of Virbhadra Singh, during her recent visit and apprised her of their problem. Pratibha had assured them of taking up the matter with the state government.
While Superintendent of Police, Kullu, Padam Chand said there were strict guidelines to ensure the online submission of forms for official record and the district police would launch a campaign to create awareness among hoteliers and house owners about the importance of the exercise.
“With a rise in crime against tourists, the police have to keep a track of the arrival and departure of foreigners,” he said.
