Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh (35) today wed Bollywood actor Geeta Basra in a traditional and grand affair. The “anand karaj” took place at a gurdwara on the Phagwara-Jalandhar highway.
Basra wore a traditional red and gold dress designed by Surat-based designer Archana Kocchar. Harbhajan complemented Basra by wearing a red and white outfit. Both were reported to have been in a relationship for six years.
Calling it a special day, Bhajji said he was happy that it had finally arrived. “Geeta is a great human being and I am happy to have her in my life,” he said after the “anand karaj”.
Among those who attended the wedding were Mumbai Indians (MI) chief mentor and former Indian cricket captain Sachin Tendulkar, his wife Dr Anjali, Aakash Ambani, son of Reliance Industries CMD Mukesh Ambani, IS Bindra, former BCCI chief, former cricketer Mohammad Kaif, Punjabi singers Hans Raj Hans, his son Yuvraj, Gippy Grewal and Jassi Sidhu, and Congress leader Sukhpal Khaira.
The gala wedding extended for over five days. Around six chefs were flown in from European countries to prepare a cuisine with over 300 dishes.
Also, the star attraction of the today’s event was a decorated Rolls Royce Phantom car worth Rs3.5 crore, specially bought by the couple for the occasion. Bhajji’s first love, a black Hummer, too was decorated.
Designer outfits
Basra wore a traditional red and gold outfit designed by Surat-based designer Archana Kocchar, while Harbhajan complemented her by wearing a red and white outfit.

Bouncers spoil party
The wedding ended in a controversy as some bouncers deployed at Bhajji's residence allegedly misbehaved with mediapersons and even snatched their cameras. The move triggered a protest. Even though Harbhajan apologised to the mediapersons, the latter called the police. An FIR was lodged against the bouncers.
