Colour-coding system for Vikrams

The city police have come up with a plan to implement the colour-coding system for Vikram (commercial three-wheeler) to overcome the problem of traffic congestion in the city.

The colour-coding system will prove beneficial to check unauthorised plying of Vikram on different routes.

The problem of traffic congestion has become perennial in different areas. Although the city police had tried earlier to implement traffic diversion plan to streamline the traffic, it could not be succeeded.

The problem of traffic congestion turns worst especially during school and office hours and after rainfall in the city. Besides, the load of private and commercial vehicles, including city buses, adds woes to traffic congestion in the city.

After realising the fact, the traffic police have decided to implement colour-coding system for Vikram. The colour system will include registration and permit number of the Vikram plying on its designated routes. It will be mandatory for vehicle owners to paste a sticker on windscreen.

Giving details about the colour-coding system, SP, Traffic, Dheerandra Gunjyal said, “The maximum time to run Vikram in the municipal limit of the city is five years.”

He said Vikram drivers were strictly told to have no-pollution certificate and to the display rate list in their vehicle.
