Chandigarh, May 9

The Srimad Rajchandra Mission, Dharmpur, presented their widely acclaimed play “Yugpurush” as a light and sound drama at Tagore Theatre here today. The play highlighted the multifarious socio–religious and cultural projects undertaken by the mission besides chronicling the intellectual depth, dynamism, wisdom and vision of Srimad Rajchandra as part of the 150th birth anniversary of the philosopher and saint.

The Gujarati play was directed by acclaimed director Rajesh Joshi and scripted by well-known playwright Uttam Gada. The music was given by Sachin-Jigar. The play was designed to preserve, promote and propagate Gandhiji’s beliefs and to bring his teachings to the countrymen.

The play operated on diverse levels with Mahatma Gandhi in discourse with his female disciples while artistes depicted an association between young Mahatma Gandhi and his young spiritual mentor Shrimad Rajchandraji. As the play progresses it highlighted values of love, respecting diversity, supporting truth, fostering trust and building lasting communities.
