The state government will give 50 per cent subsidy to mushroom producers procuring compost from private players and also give them subsidy on use of electricity required for irrigation.
The mushroom cultivators are already receiving 50 per cent subsidy on compost if bought from the government, but this subsidy from private players will also generate income opportunities for small dairy owners.
“We will bear 50 per cent of the travel cost of the cultivators for ferrying the compost to the nearest road head,” said Director Horticulture Mission Dr BS Negi.
The use of electricity by mushroom cultivators has so far been billed under commercial tariff but the government has decided to provide them subsidised electricity on the use of pump sets at Rs 1.55 paise per unit, he added.
