Senior citizens to get 30 pc rebate in HRTC buses

Transport Minister GS Bali today said the HRTC would run electric buses on trial to the Rohtang Pass in November and December and announced the launch of the “Samaan Card” scheme for senior citizens. The HRTC would give a 30 per cent rebate to senior citizens on bus fare while travelling in the state.

Addressing a press conference after chairing a meeting of the HRTC board of directors and the bus adda management pradhikaran here, Bali said the HRTC had launched special AC bus in the capital city. Besides, HRTC employees would get 6 per cent DA which would cost state Rs 18 crore out of which Rs 1 crore would be contributed by the HRTC, he added.

“The Rajiv Gandhi Thali scheme that costs Rs 25 per plate to passengers will be lunched in Hamipur, Mandi, Una, Shimla and Nahan for which tenders have been called,” he added.

He said the HRTC was getting 30 new buses that would be plied on long routes and had bought 20 super luxury buses. The passengers can book the HRTC bus tickets through the mobile app.
