Mohali, February 27
The CIA wing of the Mohali police has arrested five drug peddlers, including an architect, from different spots and recovered a total of 85 gram heroin and cash worth Rs 20 lakh from their possession.
The arrested persons have been identified as Parveen Kumar, a Kharar-based architect; Vijay Kumar from Bihar, Aman Gill from Amritsar, his cousin Sunil Kumar; and Deepak Kumar, also from Amritsar.
Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the accused had been arrested from different spots. “These all drug peddlers were active in and around Mohali,” said the SSP.
Parveen Kumar, who did an architect diploma from Thapar College at Patiala, is a drug addict. The police recovered 35 gram heroin from him, he added,
“From Vijay Kumar, who resides at Desu Majra village, we recovered 10 gram heroin,” said SSP Bhullar.
The police recovered 50 gram heroin and cash worth Rs 20 lakh from the possession of Aman Gill, Sunil Kumar and Deepak Kumar.
“These drug peddlers were active in Mohali, Chandigarh and Panchkula and adjoining areas. They were in a Swift car at the time of their arrest. During their interrogation, they confessed that they were intending to buy heroin with the cash,” said the SSP.
They used to buy drugs from Nawanshahr. The trio was also drug addicts, said the police.
The police have registered different cases against them under the appropriate sections of the NDPS Act.
