New Delhi, February 7
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken today met the Police Commissioner, Amulya Patnaik, along with the family members of Vinod Mehra, a Congress Seva Dal worker who was shot dead in an apparent case of road rage at a flyover in Bhalswa Dairy on Tuesday morning, and sought immediate action in the case.
Maken said it was indeed very saddening that Mehra was shot dead in front of his young son, and requested the police chief not to reveal the identity of the young boy and also provide him with police protection, as he was the only witness to the crime.
Maken also requested the Police Commissioner not to call the young boy to the police station as he is under fear after his father was shot dead before his eyes.
Maken said the police chief had promised prompt action in the murder case, and the culprits would be arrested soon. There seemed to be no political angle to the murder as it was apparently a case of road rage, but the police should probe all the angles in the case and bring the criminals to the book.
