Not often does one get to see a Punjabi film which is directed, written (dialogue and screenplay both) by the same person, and to top it all, it’s this same person who also acts in that film. Well, how often one gets to see Amberdeep at his best, in more than one department and nailing each one, except for acting, where he needs to slow his speed a bit.

Punjabi film Laung Laachi hits the screens on Friday... Fresh storyline, impactful screenplay witty dialogues and loads of emotions; the movie comes across as a breath of fresh air. Though it does feel unnecessarily stretched at some points and has over-the-top melodrama, but it still makes for a pleasant watch.

Amberdeep has penned some beautiful dialogues and an equally fresh storyline, which probably the entertainment industry will relate to. The opening scene of Laung Laachi looks something like Nikka Zaildar 3, but it soon takes its own course.

The film has a pretty interesting concept and equally interesting characterisation. We feel that Vijay Tandon and Gurpreet Bhangu’s roles are over the top and didn’t need that kind of dramatisation. Unlike the recent films that have come, Laung Laachi doesn’t have a very pleasing art direction job, which you might not even notice because you’d be enjoying Neeru Bajwa and Amberdeep Singh’s after marriage love story.

After watching Laung Laachi, you will come to know why Neeru Bajwa is called the reigning queen of Punjabi cinema. Her character, Laachi, holds various shades, something that Neeru Bajwa projects beautifully. In fact, you would love to hate her at some points in the film, and love her all over again.

Though Amberdeep Singh has been seen in front of the camera in a couple of films, this is his first full-fledged film as a hero. As we said before, he needs to slow down with his dialogue delivery. Rest, he fits absolutely well in the role, so much so that we start to lose patience looking at his naivety and innocence in the film. And then comes the artiste, the singer-actor who is getting into the natural mould of acting with every film, Ammy Virk.

Ammy plays a singer in the film, and you bet he slips in this role as effortlessly as waterfall. The film also stars Amrit Mann in a small yet likeable role. However, the same cannot be said for Nirmal Rishi. In fact the entire ‘meet the family scene’ is completely uncalled for and stretched.

The film also highlights the scenario of fake views that is trending in the industry. It touches issues of disparity between male and female singers, and other things that exist in the industry.

Laung Laachi has hummable music, which adds pleasantness to the film. On the whole, you will like to see the crackling spices laung and laachi together for sure!
