Gourav Sharma, a student of Class XII of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra, has won laurels for his gurukul, the shrine board and the state by winning a gold medal at the national-level ‘Kavya Kanth Path’ at the 55th All-India Sanskrit Shastric Contest which was recently held at Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Eklavya Campus, Tripura.
Shubham Sharma of Class X and Anish Sharma of Class IX, both students of the gurukul, won the ‘Vashishath Award’ in ‘Amarkosh Kanth Path’ and ‘Ashathadhyai Kanth Path’, respectively, at the competition.
Gourav Sharma was presented with a gold medal, a trophy, a certificate and Rs 10,000 for winning the first prize in Kavya Kanth Path. Shubham Sharma and Anish Sharma were awarded a certificate and Rs 1,500 each for winning the first prizes in Amarkosh Kanth Path and Ashathadhyai Kanth Path, respectively.
Governor NN Vohra, chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, has congratulated Gourav Sharma, Shubham Sharma and Anish Sharma, for their outstanding performances at this national-level declamation contest.
The Governor also lauded the ‘acharyas’ and teachers of the gurukul on the commendable performance of their students in both academics as well as extracurricular activities.
It may be recalled that Gourav Sharma had also won the first prize at the national-level ‘Jyotish Shilakha Pariksha’ at the 54th All-India Sanskrit Shastric Contest held last year at Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
