Ludhiana, March 9
Ludhiana Institute of Nursing observed World Kidney Day with a lecture-cum-discussion highlighting the theme and importance of the event. A poster competition was also held, where students made posters on sign and symptoms, risk factors, management and prevention of kidney disease. In the end, students presented a role play on the theme depicting relationship between obesity and kidney disease and measures to prevent them such as education and awareness of the risks of obesity and a healthy lifestyle, including proper nutrition and exercise. This year, the World Kidney Day promotes education about the harmful consequences of obesity and its association with kidney disease, advocating healthy lifestyle and health policy measures that make preventive behaviours an affordable option.—TNS
