Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti University Dr Pranav Pandya has termed ragging as a blemish on the educational sector and urged students to refrain from activities that hurt fellow students.
Pandya, while speaking at the welcome party ‘Unnayan’ for fresher students here today, said instead of ragging all educational institutions should initiate interactive and healthy events like ‘Unnayan’ .
He added that this would bridge the gap between seniors and juniors who get close to each other with such cultural programmes. “Due to lack of sensitivity, ragging made inroads into the Indian educational set up, but at Dev Sanskriti University we teach students to be sensitive towards each other. A harmonic and cordial relation exits between students, which eventually fosters good educational environment and academic results,” said Pandya.
Pro vice chancellor Dr Chinmay Pandya urged students to work in tandem with each other and respect teachers. Earlier after lighting the traditional lamp and singing hymns, students presented various cultural programmes. Registrar Sandeep Kumar, the teaching staff and students' union representatives were present.
