World Earth Day was celebrated across city schools with great fervour here today.
Tribune Model School
A poster-making competition was organised by the Science Department of the school on the occasion. An interactive session on the theme of “water conservation” and “global warming” was also held followed by the competition for classes VI to VIII. Students displayed their imagination on canvas creatively.
St John’s High School
An informative and persuasive assembly along with a cycle rally was organised in Sector 26. The students enunciated the theme, ‘Trees for the Earth’. Poems and speeches motivated teachers and students alike to plant more trees. A short skit highlighted the importance of trees.
KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 7
Twin festivals ‘Earth Day’ and ‘Mahatma Hansraj Day’ were celebrated. Green and Saffron were the colours of the day. Celebrating 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Hansraj, the day started with the recital of the ‘Gayatri Mantras’ anda hawan. The students and teachers also recited ‘shlokas’.
Saint Soldier International School, Sector 28
The school’s Eco Club, ‘Parag’, organised a variety of activities to mark the occasion. Staff and students celebrated the day with a medley of educational and fun activities.
CL Aggarwal DAV Model School, Sector 7
A special morning assembly was conducted on the school premises. Students enthusiastically participated in poster-making, collage making and clay modelling competitions.
DAV Model School, Sector 15
A special assembly was organised to hold the celebrations. Various events were showcased by students with joint collaboration of various clubs of the school.
St Joseph’s Sr Secondary School, Sector 44
A special assembly was conducted in the primary-I block. The aim was to create awareness about three ‘R’ i.e. reduce, reuse and recycle to keep the Earth neat and clean.
AKSIPS-41 Smart School
Students of the primary wing celebrated the day with full fervor and zeal. Class I students walked through the streets of Sector 41 and Palm Garden holding placards urging people to shoulder the responsibility of protecting the Earth.
St Xavier’s High School
Panchkula: An inter-house debate was organised by the Eco Club for students of classes VI-X. Each team had two speakers- ‘for’ and ‘against’ the topic. It was interesting to hear the students debating and putting their points and opinions forward.
Jainendra Public School
The day was made special by teachers and students who came dressed in Green. The students took a pledge to ‘save mother Earth’ by conserving natural resources and protecting the Earth from pollution during a special assembly.
Shishu Niketan Public School, Sector 5
Students took part ina number of activities like — poster making, slogan writing, poetry recitation and essay writing to mark the day.
Ashmah International School, Sector 70
Mohali: Students planted saplings on the school premises with the help of their teachers to celebrate the day.
The Heritage Public High School
Students were told about the importance of the day and natural resources and their importance in human life.
St Xavier’s High School
It was double celebrations for students as they celebrated their principal’s birthday along with World Earth Day. They wished principal Georgina Roy by singing a birthday song and presented bouquets to her.
Holy Wonders Smart School
A cleanliness and greenery week was observed by the school. Students were appointed to take care of the plants on the school premises. Besides, students were told the importance of sprinklers for less wastage and evaporation of the water.
AKSIPS-65 Smart School
A plethora of activities were conducted for students. A nature walk to a park was enjoyed by students of classes I and II while students of classes III participated in a creative-writing activity.
Saupin’s School, Sector 70
Saupin’s Community Service Organisation, Mohali Chapter, organised a poster-making competition. Students made posters showing the importance of water and how the consumption of water can be minimised.
AKSIPS-125 Smart School, Kharar
The day began with a special assembly where students were told different ways to keep the Earth green and clean.
DPS World School
Zirakpur: A gala event was organised to mark the day with an aim to instill a sense of belonging to the Earth among all children. The day began on a vibrant note with a special assembly conducted by the students. An aura of environmental awareness was created as students recited poems and sang a song dedicated to the conservation of the Earth. Meanwhile, a short skit named ‘Sad Earth, Happy Earth’ was also staged.
Meanwhile, celebrations were also held at Mount Litera Zee School and Blue Bird High School, Panchkula.
