As many as 24 samples of milk out of 85 were found adulterated at a testing and awareness camp organised by the Punjab Dairy Development Board in Phase XI here today.

The board found that 24 samples of milk were adulterated with water. The adulteration was between 11 per cent and 35 per cent. However, the remaining 61 samples were in accordance with specifications.

The camp was inaugurated by the Municipal Councillor Amrik Singh.

Officials at the camp laid stress on the quality of milk purchased by consumers. They said consumers could help in checking adulteration.

The technical officer of the Punjab Dairy Development Board, Darshan Singh, said consumers could get free checking of milk done at district-level offices of the board. Those interested in getting milk testing camps held could contact district level offices or call on 0172- 2700228.
