Sangrur: A moving car suddenly caught fire on the Sangrur-Nabha road in front of the main gate of Government Senior Secondary School, Balian, 6 km from here, on Saturday.



Sangrur: A moving car suddenly caught fire on the Sangrur-Nabha road in front of the main gate of Government Senior Secondary School, Balian, 6 km from here, on Saturday. However, car owner Tarlochan Kumar of Sunam, who was driving the vehicle, escaped unhurt as he managed to alight from the burning car. He was on the way to Sunam from Nabha. He had purchased the Honda Jazz car just five days ago.

3 nabbed under Excise Act

The district police on Saturday claimed to have nabbed Sanjay Kumar and Ajay Kumar of Fazilka under the Excise Act with 60 cartons of liquor by intercepting a car in the Jalalabad area. Ram Singh of Bareka village was nabbed with 36 bottles of liquor.

2 booked for abduction 

Gaganpreet Singh and his cousin Arphu Singh of Usmankhera village on the Abohar-Sriganganagar highway have been booked under Sections 363 and 366A of the IPC and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act for allegedly abducting a minor girl. A villager alleged in his complaint that they took his minor daughter (14) on the assurance of marriage.
