Srinagar, April 1
The four-day-long National Coaches and Referees Seminar - 2016 on silat, a martial art form, started at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Stadium here today.
The seminar is being organised by the Indian Pencak Silat Federation under the supervision of Asian Pencak Silat Federation (APSF).
APSF president Sheik Allau’ddin bin Yacoob Marican said silat was practiced in 80 countries. He said with the ongoing seminar, silat would now get promoted in J&K and across India.
Marican said he was hopeful that silat would get endorsed by the Indian Olympic Association, paving the way for Indian team’s participation in the international silat events. — TNS
