“So, where are you coming from?”, when we ask the 29-year-old Rishabh Puri, who penned a book, Inside the Heart of Hope, self-published by Partridge, he replies jokingly, “from my home”.

Born and brought up in Nigeria, Africa, Rishabh shares that he suffered multiple medical conditions as a kid and even when he was growing up. “I was only six months when I suffered from hyperlipidemia because of which I developed a heart condition. I had a bypass surgery when I was only 19,” he says. While Rishabh states that writing, painting, sketching and watching sitcoms came to his relief when he was down and out, he took a strong liking for writing. “I wanted to write a book, which is loosely based on me, so that even if I could inspire one person through my story; that would serve my goal,” he says.

Inaugurated by Ashutosh Rajan, SDM, Kalka, Rishabh’s book is priced at Rs 250. “I don’t read much of drama. In fact, I like reading comics, like Archies and Adventures of Tintin. Also, I have seen movies that are an adaptation of Marvel comics, like Iron Man,” he says. Rishabh’s story is not of despair, but of hoping against hope, which eventually helped him emerge victorious.

Inside the Heart of Hope is a journey of a man, who did not only learn to live with his medical disorders but saw this as opportunity to cherish life for all the good things it brings along.

While speaking about his book, Rishabh says, “It is a story of strong will, perseverance and optimism, which will move you to wonder if whether at all there are any limitations in life. I have always been fascinated by the power of the mind because, ultimately, the mind is where all the conviction lies and nobody can defeat a strong mind.” — TNS
